Character Counter / Word Counter is a counter that allows you to count the number of characters, phrases, paragraphs, and words in the text you enter. The calculator also shows the most common words in the text and the average length of the words.
You can paste the text you want from Word or another word processor or from a web page into the counter's text box, and the counter will show the number of characters and words and other information about the text.
You can use a word counter, for example, if you're writing an essay and the essay must meet the minimum word count requirements.
Many of the most popular word processors also have a built-in character and word counter.
Google Docs has a built-in character and word counter. You can check the number of characters and words entered: select Tools -> Word Count from the top bar. To view the number of words as you type, you can select Display word count while typing .
In Microsoft Word, the word counter is on by default, and you can see the number of words you type directly from the bottom left of Word. More detailed line and paragraph counts can be found in Word by selecting Tools -> Word Count from the top menu.
